Today I had the pleasure of speaking with my friend Christine Watson. She also has a passion and purpose of serving humanity and has been working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual sssault for more than 11 years. She started her human services work in England upon her graduation with a Master’s Degree in English Literature and now works and lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In her current job, Christine acts as a dual supervisor for a 24 hour on-call program which offers assistance to survivors immediately following an assault as well as legal advocates who supports survivors as they engage with the criminal and civil judicial process. Christine also acts as a trainer for the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). Christine is an activist, a humanist and a listener.

To connect with any non-profit that provides resources and support for survivors fo sexual assault and domestic violence, simply do an internet search in your community. There are also similar organizations on college campuses and appreciate student volunteers.

Christine mentioned vicarious trauma and you can understand more about that concept here.
